How to use the timer
- Set the time in hours, minutes and seconds, or press a quick start button such as "5 min".
- Press Start. The time left also shows in the browser tab, so you can see it from another tab.

- Need longer? Press "+1 min" at any time, or Pause and Resume.
How to use the stopwatch
- Choose "Stopwatch" and press Start.
- Press Lap to record a split. Each lap shows its own time and the total so far, newest at the top.
- Press Stop to pause, Resume to carry on, or Reset to clear it.
How it keeps time
Instead of counting ticks, which browsers slow down in background tabs, the timer notes the exact moment it should end and checks the clock against it. So the time shown is right even if your computer was busy. The countdown rounds up to the whole second, so it shows 00:01 until the very end.
Ideas for using it
- Focus sessions: work for 25 minutes, then take a 5-minute break, a pattern many people use to stay focused.
- Billing your time: use the stopwatch while you work for a client, then add the time to our timesheet calculator.
- Meetings and presentations: keep talks to time, or give each speaker the same slot.
Frequently asked questions
Will the alarm sound if I switch tabs?
The time stays accurate, but to save battery some browsers delay sounds and updates in tabs you're not looking at, especially on phones or after a few minutes. If the alarm matters, keep this tab open and visible, and your sound on.
Does it keep running if I close the page?
No. Nothing is saved, so closing or reloading the page stops the timer and clears the stopwatch.
How accurate is the stopwatch?
It reads your device's clock, which is precise to well under a hundredth of a second. Your own reaction when pressing the button adds more delay than that, so treat hundredths as a guide.
